Here are seven books I really respect and recommend the most. You will note none of them is about exercise. Believe me, I love to work out each day and I study it all the time too. But more people struggle with motivation, eating habits and making mindful choices in life than with knowing which fitness routine to do. So, here are my top recommendations:
Thin from Within by Joseph J. Lucinani
Addresses the ingrained behaviors and emotional triggers that lead to overeating. Offers cognitive tools to help you eat healthier and more deliberately.
Eat this, Not That! by David Zinczenko
A fun approach to making better choices between foods, especially at restaurants. How to prepare your favorite restaurant foods with a lot less calories, salt, sugar and fat!
Mindless Eating by Brian Wansink
Psychologist Brian Wansink helps you be more mindful about what and how much you are actually eating.
He will help you uncover the "science of snacking" and how to overcome the challenge of mindlessly reaching for food when we are not hungry.
Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist
Great personal essays about how to slow down and stop running laps in life, and how to remove the pressure to be perfect. One of the greatest lessons she discusses is learning to say NO to busyness and YES to healthier life choices.
Juggling Elephants by Jones Loflin & Todd Musig
A fun story about a man who tried to get everything done, and how he learned to run the circus instead of the circus running him. A must read for everyone!
Diet Right for Your Personality Type Jen Widerstrom
The key to finding an eating plan that is healthy and that you will adhere to is first determining your personality type. Begins with a personality assessment, and then you are provided a four week diet, fitness plan and how to use your traits to your advantage in weight loss. The author started the Biggest Loser program.
